FUTURE OF INDIAN HOCKEY
FUTURE OF INDIAN HOCKEY

I recently had the privilege of visiting One Thousand Hockey Legs (OTHL)—an incredible initiative focused on nurturing hockey talent among underprivileged children. The energy, determination, and enthusiasm I witnessed there were nothing short of inspiring.

As a speed, agility, and athletics coach, I was invited to contribute to the holistic development of these young athletes by enhancing their physical capabilities beyond the hockey stick and turf. My focus was on improving their speed, agility, reaction time, and overall decision-making—key elements not just in hockey, but in any competitive sport.

We began with foundational agility drills using ladder work and cone setups, moving into reaction-based challenges to sharpen their reflexes. It was amazing to see how quickly they adapted, pushing themselves with eagerness and joy. Towards the end of the session, we transitioned into speed endurance training, helping them develop resilience and maintain performance under fatigue—an essential trait for every aspiring athlete.

What stood out the most was their hunger to learn. Despite limited resources, these kids were full of spirit, discipline, and gratitude. Training them was not only fulfilling but also a reminder of the power of sport to unite, uplift, and empower.

I’m thankful to OTHL for the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful cause. This experience reaffirmed my belief that with the right guidance and opportunities, talent can rise from anywhere.
