Recently, I had the privilege of meeting Dr. G. Kishore, the esteemed Regional Director of the Sports Authority of India, at the Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education (LNCPE) in Trivandrum. Our conversation centered around the evolving landscape of Indian sports and the strategic steps we can take to elevate our nation's performance on global platforms.
Dr. Kishore, with his vast experience and visionary leadership, shared valuable insights into the current challenges and future opportunities in Indian sports. We discussed the importance of grassroots development, scientific training methodologies, and athlete-centric infrastructure. As an Olympian and athletics coach, I was deeply inspired by his commitment to nurturing talent and his emphasis on holistic development for athletes.
We also explored the sporting ecosystem in Australia, where I currently train under coach John Quinn. The comparison highlighted the importance of integrating sports science, mental conditioning, and a structured support system for athletes — elements that are gradually gaining momentum in India. Dr. Kishore appreciated the role of international exposure in shaping well-rounded athletes and emphasized collaborative efforts between Indian and global institutions.
As a token of encouragement, I was honored to receive a memento from the Sports Authority of India — a gesture that deeply humbled me and reinforced my responsibility to give back to the Indian sporting community.
Meetings like these reaffirm my vision to not only compete at the highest level but also contribute to the development of Indian athletics. I am grateful for the opportunity to engage in such meaningful conversations that shape the future of sports in our country.
